$10 billion in trade with China, we import $6 billion... are we such a profitable country that we can afford to take a $4 BILLION hit, just lose $4,000,000,000 and not notice it anywhere in the economy? cutting services, upping GST, oh yeah we get a rebate in the form of an income tax cut... but it's ok, we'll earn that back in tax credits that WE pay for WTF! I don't care if we get cheap stuff, that always comes at a price, i'd rather the people were getting their health covered thank you very much.

    Sorry for the rant

$4 bill is a lot to pay for it though. you'd need a few new taxes to cover the shortfall... and they want to double it (and potentially offset it somehow, ets? that's one polluted country they've got there...)

but yay on the Pandas and Bikes

It was the same when Labour was in gubmint - Helen Clark crowed about increased trade with China. I couldn't see how them increasing by a small amount the stuff they bought from us, while increasing by a LARGE amount how much they shipped here was a Good Thing. The nett result is an even larger imbalance between money going out /coming in, so we're even WORSE off. Sounds like our politicians have problems with basic maths....
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

The worse thing about it is that while I've been on sick leave / annual leave to have and recover from open-heart surgery, I've received one (1!) phone call from someone at work, and that was my boss, yesterday, basically asking if I was coming back next week. This is from a company that I've worked at for over four years, that prides itself on its social conscience, assistance programmes, wonderful company culture, blah blah blah. And the HR manager knew I was going into hospital and didn't even offer lip service to ask if there was something she could do to help.
That is f'n disgusting. Like you work with these people every day and they just dont' give a flying fuk. In the old days when I worked full-time (pre-children) if any one was ever off sick I (most times) would ring and ask if they needed milk. bread etc and if they were away longer than a week i'd take over a cooked meal of something like that to help out. Why are people so god damn inconsiderate and rude???? Society just stopped caring...got too big for itself!

Hope you are healing well, going into hospital is not fun and haivng surgery of any kind is right damn scarey. Glad you've pulled through.

Ok so I have been applying for pizza delivery jobs through Pizza hutt and their policy is that they don't let their people deliver on motorcycles because of safety reasons. Apparently, by loading pizza's onto the back of the bike it could cause you to loose balance and fall off. Never mind that I can easily take a pillion passnger with no trouble at all, weighing probably more than a hundred times the weight of 10 pizzas.

    oh well, thats their policy.

I've been working for the same company, on the same equipment for the last 8 years.

Actually, amend that slightly, we've replaced most of our equipment since I've been working there. So not much time to get bored.
