    Question Windscreen replacement?

    Hey guys,
I own a 1989 Honda CBR250 R MC19, When I brought the bike it had a few little things needing attention, It had a crack on the neck of the left mirror, and a cracked windscreen in the same place and a slightly bent up support bar that holds up the front crowl, plus a few other things, So most of it has been sorted other than my muffler which is a whole different story,
The reason im posting this thread is I was wondering if anyone could tell me how exactly to take off the windscreen, now instantly I would have asumed screws or bolts but no, they are like studs with a washer or something on the inside, ill post some pictures soon.

Dont get me wrong for a 20+ year old bike its in imaculate condition and with only 5,000 ligit K's :].

Looks to me like these are probably wellnuts. Basically, they're a rubber tube with lip at the top and a metal nut at the bottom that you insert in to a hole. The bolt then goes in and draws the nut up squashing the runnber in to a bulge that holds the windscreen in place.

A quick google gave me the following pic that I think illustrates it better:

[Edit] I just had another look at the pics and now I'm not so sure...

BTW: IF you're looking for a replacement windscreen there's a place in Hamilton that makes them - Godiva Windscreens http://www.godiva.co.nz/. I replaced mine on my 1986 CBX550 and I'm very happy with both the product and the service. They can even supply replacement wellnuts if you need them.

Yeah, that'll teach me to look more closely before jumping to conclusions....

Cheers for the feedback guys, i was also looking at some other fourms and all I realy got was that you either drill them out or you fiddle the shit out of the washers with a flat head screw driver and pliers

If it helps anyone who had the same issue, I found is easiest to cut the back of the aluminium rivits with wire cutters and riggled the washer off with a screwdriver peice of cake
