That movie got me going on hot-rods the same way Easy Rider got me going on motorbikes.

Saw it the first time in '74 when it was in Dunedin and was stoked, grouse flick eh!

We have a fortnightly biker movie night in New Plymouth thru winter and Easy rider was one we had last winter - first time I'd seen it since it first came out, however American Graffiti is ingrained in my brain after many years Hot Rodding.

If I recall correctly, when he pulls up on the scooter and it runs away from him, the actor was just trying to make the scooter "hop" so that his character appeared really unco.

Yep, great movie. That and "Vanishing Point" are responsible for a serious addiction to petrol and machines relating to it's consumption.

Great movie. It introduced a young Harrison Ford into the bigtime movie business as well.

You sir have immaculate taste in movies. I'd like to add Two lane blacktop and the original gone in 60 seconds (1974) to that list. Have you seen the god awful remake of vanishing point from about 1997 with Viggo Mortensen playing Kowalski? His performance and the nasty hash they made out of the script made me feel kinda sick! Oh and if that don't make ya blood boil then try Jason Priestly as super soul!
