Disc brake rust?

is this o.k i see a little surface rust, but after riding its gone. today came back from a trip in the rain and after a while i looked at front disks and surface rust is back. is there any thing i need to do or is it sweet as.

It's just the iron content in the disc.

Nothing to worry about.

All good, it's just the iron content in the disk reacting with the water - normal as the disk is being polished by the brakes with use so they will colour up fast with rain.

There was a model in the 80's CB550 or something where Honda 'hid' the disks behind alloy covers to hide this type of unsightly rust! Added a lot of unnecessary weight.

Unless like me, it highlights the fact that the front disks are from two different bikes...

You mean the good (by good I mean bad) old inboard disk brake, as seen on some CB's, VT's and MVX's

Not Honda's best work by any means. At the time it was their attempt to solve the wet weather brake fade problem. I can attest that it does work. My CBX550's brakes are fine in the wet. The one thing I've got to remember though is that they don't work at all immediately after I've hosed them down. I very nearly came to grief when I discovered this.
