    The Lions have landed...

I spent last night sitting with a room full of my neighbours watching the Crusaders win, and being barracked by the 'yocals' over the fact I'm a Brit, and apparently the AB's are going to, "make you pussy cats suffer". Really? All I hope for is a sublime example of open rugby.

What was interesting to hear was everyone in the room write off the Lions simply because they drew with Argentina. Well let me just put that one straight. They were nowhere near full strength Argentinan or Lions sides. Argentina were introducing some new players to the team, and the Lions were playing some guys that hadn't played first class rugby for a long time, some for several seasons. Besides, it was a friendly and this was the first time the Lions team had ever played together.

So - what can we expect from the forthcoming test series ? An AB team eager to prove something after several pretty dismal seasons? An expansive game because that's what the ABs do best, and a Lions team that have nothing to prove, but to have fun and play 1st class rugby for the fans ? I hope so.

I hope that either the ABs or the Lions win the first test, then the other team wins the second test lining us all up for a fantastic final test in Auckland.

Good luck the All Blacks. Good luck the Lions. And I prey for a memorable series.

And I've just managed to get a couple of tickets to the opening test here in Ch Ch - woohoooooo!!!!

hear hear, lets get some good rugby.... I hope your right about the argentinian game as the lions had no right really to get away from that one with a draw.

And lets just secretly hope that the cantabs need's to "rebuild" for a few years after loosing a few of there preformers so some of the other super 12 teams can get a look in. I'm bored with it all, go the cheifs, hurricanes, highlanders (dare i say blues ) any body....

Just imagine the reaction from the NZ press if one of the Lions wore make up.
    Big ponce.

Anyways you won't see him - it'll be Gear on one wing and Sivivatu on t'other...

Nonu wears makeup? oh well I'm not going to harass him about it!!
He might make the reserves though. I say bring him on as a rampaging bull in the second half to weed out some tired lions forwards and open up the backline with a few hard tackles

Does he honestly wear makeup? I know it looks like he wears eyeliner and Ms Biff thinks he's a nonce. But I thought that maybe he had thick eyelashes!!

Agree with you 100% Biff. I love a good game of rugby as much as the next Kiwi- but ever since I decided that I no longer wanted to pay Sky’s ever increasing costs my interest in the game has dropped well off. Two things leave me totally mystified:

Every year we Kiwi’s sit around and rub our hands with glee, certain in the knowledge that the All Blacks will annihilate all comers. We’re even worse in a world cup year. And every year we bleat on in stunned disbelief when the All Blacks prove that they are in fact just men and can be beaten. Coaches are dropped, players are replaced, and the next year gives the same result. What the hell are we using as the basis for all this confidence???

Why do our rugby teams and coaches never learn from their mistakes? How often do we need to loose in the dying minutes of a game before we learn that you never sit back and defend a score. Shit the Crusaders nearly did it on Saturday.

    Sorry, rant over.
I’ll just go back to watching MotoGP- no stoppages for scrums, lineouts, huddles (what the f^ck is THAT all about?), or ‘injuries’-“the boys are getting a bit puffed- quick someone fake an injury so we can all have a breather”

cause graham henrys involved this year. and we're quite sure HE'S unbeatable!

good to see the lions have named a decent side against BOP. Mighn't look so flash by the time the locals have made a few tackles tho! (assuming they can in fact catch the lions players)

    God I hate rugby
To every man upon this earth
    Death cometh sooner or late
And how can a man die better
    Than facing fearful odds
For the ashes of his fathers
And the temples of his Gods
