    1988 MC18 NSR250R $ offers $

Bike is actually an MC16; sorry about the confusion.

Deregistered with unknown mechanical history. Has been off the roads for a few years before my mate bought it. Engine usually starts first kick, even when cold and it seems to run quite smoothly.

Has just had a new battery, new chain and sprockets installed. The headlight is smashed, and a few bits are missing. The fairings are in an average condition for the age of the bike.

The brakes and everything else on the bike seem to work well, and the bike is perfectly rideable as is.

The back tyre is up to WOF standard, although the front tyre is bald. Bike comes with a good front tyre, which will need to be fitted onto the rim.

It seems to have a problem with the power valves, they do seem to kick in nicely, but the power tapers off too quickly, but it may still have the factory power limiter in it. The tachometer is also not working properly.

The bike is sold AIWI on behalf of a mate. If you would like any more details please contact Tony on 027 2758396. NO SWAPS! Make a cash offer!

So the plate is dead, it runs without too many funny noises, but seems to be flat up top...? Problem with the 16s is getting bits unfortunately, but there might be a few months of fun in it... I'll open the bidding at $300

this is the one that we told you check the powervalves are actually operating on it right? If it wasnt so fucking far down the country I'd possibly be keen.

No way, his bidding strategy is awesome, if he lowballs the previous bidder, it halves the asking price. Right? ... right?

Broken degregistered NSRs aren't worth much money, but surely more than $20!

Being a MC16 (not the mc18 stated previously) I beleive ~40-45hp is all you're gonna get out of it - they weren't "restricted" like the later models were, this might be why it doesn't have the "oomph" once the power band hits.

Right. I'm not even going to attempt to check the powervalves, as my mechanical knowledge is so bad I can't do anything more than an oil change or tightening the chain.

They're pretty simple man, just download the manual and follow it, you'll manage it fine.

Don't rape the crap out of it, if it pops then it's rubbish. $300 offer still stands for a short time, you could probably mug someone for a little more on trademe though.
