Oh well....been offered one job and have an interview tomorrow for another.
I guess sometimes it pays to be a cheeky, voluptuous yet sexy beast
I'll see how it flows...

Bugging employers doesn't work - it just pisses them off. I was with a customer today - he got a call from someone who'd applied for a position with his company wanting to know what was happening. He was told "If we haven't got back to you, we're not looking at interviewing you."
Employers have better things to do than field calls from people looking for work all day long, especially when there isn't an advertised position.
There's plenty of work going out there if you have the skills. Despite my best efforts at avoiding them, I'm still getting work offers every bloody week. I finally relented last week and took one and then I get a call today offering another one. I'm going to have to put my rate up yet again.
If it wasn't for a concise set of rules, we might have to resort to common sense!
Hahaha I had to reort to door to door commission only in Dubbers when I was over there.. in winter... selling expensive alarm systems..... in a recession hahahaha good times...
I had this problem before I got the current employment unfortunately I didn't have the 3 years industrial experience and due to traveling and such had ben out of uni too long for graduate programs. So basically every CV I sent to recruitment places got vitoed without actually chatting to someone.
Flooded the market with my CV's for a couple of weeks and got 3 interviews. Got the current job through an australian recruitment company looking for someone for thier auckland office..
Oh and PM sent
Lump lingered last in line for brains,
And the ones she got were sort of rotten and insane...
Indeed I shall...by the KG would keep me financially healthy for a while too.
I went into a number of bike shops whilst out and about yesterday...2 asked for my contact details on the spot without me asking.
Ironically I have just been contacted by a recruitment agency saying that I have been short listed
I have had a LOT of jobs over the years, at one point I only lasted a max of 18mths before moving on for more $$'s. I have always worked in the same industry (I'm an image retoucher) and the only job I ever got through the paper was my actual appenticeship.
Every other one has been either word of mouth or as a result of me going through the phone book and ringing companies offering myself for temporary or part-time work.
Sometimes its just about being in the right place at the right time! One time I had just returned from the UK (where every job was scored from a friendly ph call!) and I rang this company here in Auck, the boss was out and about in his car and speaking with me on his cell ph...the upshot was we met up on a street corner and had an impromptu interview. I nailed it LOL.
My point is, that thinking outside the box and doing some cold-calling or 'door-knocking' (like Frosty suggested) is not a bad option.
And talk to as many people as you can to get your name out there so that when something comes up YOUR name will be the one that springs to mind.
GOOD LUCK!

O captain, my captain. How did it go?
If you can make it on Kiwibiker you can make it anywhere.
