    Rachel's CRASH-FREE vmcc round 3

Yay, my first round of the year where I didn't crash!!
I think a huge part was thanks to some brand new tyres!

The day didnt start fantastically, I was feeling very very shit, extremely nauseous, and in quite a bit of pain (and no Billy and Rich I am not pregnant!) I hadn't eaten much on friday and couldnt stomach anything

    Qualifying...
I know this sounds absolutely retarded but I have never had the pleasure of having brand new tyres so scrubbing them was a new experience and I was a bit nervous because I am dam sick of throwing the bike down the road. Coupled with the crap that was all over the track I was not pushing overly hard but my last lap I managed to pass the Older Croft boy and qualified in front of him in 8th.
I felt insanely weak after this but tried to drink heaps of powerade to keep my energy up

    Race 1:
For once I think I actually got a good start! I felt good and stable on the bike but was still a little tentative, This race I placed the best in 6th in 150's, I was very close to getting within passing distnace of Daddy Croft but screwed up a corner which meant I couldnt get him. Apart from that I didn't have much of a battle with anyone, it seemed to be relatively spread out.

    Race 2:
This race was the most fun, I had an appalling start, I think I may have short shifted too much as usually I forget to change up a gear ha!
I had some good battles with the red hyosung (sorry don't know your name), managed to do a good pass coming up the inside of dunlop and went a bit wide, which wasn't totally intentional, and drove him out.
Managed to do a similar pass on the same corner of the last lap to pass another hyosung which I was stoked with because he was a good way ahead of me, I saw him and then made it my mission to hunt him down!

As I got off my bike I couldn't even hold the dam thing up properly to put it in the garage I was so weak....thanks Billy and Rich for being such a help!
I went to see Mr Croft and he gave me some sweet drugs out of his bag of tricks which managed to soothe the nausea, thank you so much!! It meant I could get a wee club sandwich down and consequently felt not nearly as weak

    Race 3:
Start was ok I guess, better than race 2 at least! Was riding ok, Dude on the red hyosung, got me, passed me and I couldnt get him back unfortunately, solid effort dude

I had a fantastic time even though I was feeling insanely shit all day, I was glad that I didnt crash, it has done wonders for my confidence. It was great to have a dry, albiet cold, track.
I cant wait to get some more track time in to build that confidence up some more!!!
This was my absolute favourite round, I just had so much fun....it was how racing should be!
Bring on round 4 Im already hanging out!!

A huge thank you to Billy my fantastic sponsor (www.racefairings.co.nz), who doesnt actually care that I have a pension for crashing and always just helps me without question/complaint, you are more than I could hope for in a sponsor!
Astrid's lovely man Rich for cleaning my bike haha and general helping around the garage
And of course the lovely Crofts, you guys are such sweethearts

And all the lovely men and ladies who ran the day, and gave me shit about my crashing, word on the street was everyone in the tower was looking for me checking I wasn't crashing in qualifying (as there were a few in streetstock) and a bit of a sweepstake was going for what corner and what race I might crash in haha, I sure showed you guys haha

That was me on the red Hyo. Sorry I never introduced myself before we got 'Up close and Personal' out on the track.
But I knew who you were. John (pussy) likes to rub it in every time you beat me.
So I though when I saw you infront of me in race two - "Not having that shit no more"! .

Took an outside line through 'Splash' to get drive up the inside of you through righthander before hairpin. Not much room, but rammed it in thinking you'll back off. But no way - you held it pinned, and tho I got ahead - It's those moments that make it 'Racing' - not just a 'Track day'.

look forward to the next battle.

Sounds like it's all coming good Rach. My 2 girls are lobbying for street stock bikes, and they want to race their old man. Those lovely Crofts might just be trend-setters.

    Hey Rach -

Yes I was there on Saturday - took the bike out for a ride and ended up at Manfield - funny that

Well done for havin some good rounds. I tell you what, it's incredibly inspiring to see you gals out there doing your thing. I feel like such a pussy cat just sitting on the sidelines watching, full respect to you.

Think I will definately become a regular spectator, and best warn your man that I might just HAVE to get me a sports bike as well.

Sorry I didn't get to meet you up there, I was rather taken back by it all inc such a good way.
