He's right. They've cased your joint. They'll remember the pile on the duvet and temptation will be too much. You have these options:

    1. Move house
    2. Work out when it happened, what the conditions were like and replicate them. Make sure you have support for the dust up that will ensue (a trained vicious dog is a good backup)
    3. Let it happen again but fortify the entrances, install cameras (cheap webcam).... plus leave a note at the entrance(s). All it needs to say is "You are being recorded. We recommend you get the fuck out of here before we get too much footage to prove your crime"
    4. Hope the police can print and catch them.

Sorry to hear about it anyway. I've had that happen. They are bastards.

That is just a disgusting thing to happen to you! (bastards)

I have invented this little lazer that just melts invaders and leaves only the hint of smell like spiced chicken.

Non fattening KFC to be exact, we had some when we got home tonight!

oh that's just so wrong and I've noticed in the news and on here that crime...personal crime is becoming far to common in our society.

That saddens me, I dont' want this for my children. It causes me to open my eyes to the world I live in....I find that world lacking and i am powerless to change any of it and that fucks me off.

I live here too...and so do you and to think that others, people, humans, can do this to other people, and to such an extent. our world is changing.

it's been evolving for some time and we can all see where it is headed...farmers shot in their driveways....mothers dissappearing, not returning to their chldren, police officers shot at, innocent young men killed through no fault of their own.... our community is riddled with crime and ugliness and ... what can we do to change that?

I'm really sorry this happened to you and your family.

That sucks dude, but glad all your gear is okay... minus the gloves that they probably used to cover fingerprints.

Get a big mo-fo dog. The bigger and louder, the better. And ask your landlord to get new locks fitted - I would insist on deadbolts.

Thanks for the words of support. Cops came yesterday and took fingerprints and told us that there had been another 5 houses done in the area at the same time. They left gloves behind (not mine) at one of the houses so hope to get DNA evidence from inside them. If I was a wannabe burglar, I could have got all the tips I needed from the cop.

Luckily we had taken our toothbrushes on holiday with us Still expect to find a few other little bits gone but really does seem like they got a fright and bolted. Managed to replace my gloves with a similar pair and nice discount (as always) at Boyd's. Thanks for the offer anyway Greg. They did uncover my bike to have a look, but it was locked to the carport so probably too much hassle at the time.

As it has been said, probably the 'nicest' way to get burgled, if there is such a thing. The most astonishing part of it all has been the large and sadistic range of punishment that our 6 year old has come up with for the people who did it (eg. kick them in the nuts until they go blind). We might have to review what sort of movies he watches!

Bummer, sounds like they only got the job half done and you got off pretty lightly. Might be worth investigating a wireless alarm system that you can take with you when you move, in case they decide to come back.

I hope your 6 year old grows up to be a high court judge.

It is sad the way the world is going, or at least is perceived to be going. My son just bought his first car, and the first accessory he wants to buy for it is not some go faster bit, but a car alarm so nobody steals it. Sad.

Sorry to hear of your troubles, rustyrobot. Genie's post said it all, really; sad what our world so often seems to be...

Dunno, but I lace mine with necrotizing fasciitis before I go on holiday just in case.
