    didn't look like he had a whole lot of power. Surely an F-18 would have enough thrust to drive out of that if need be.

    Modern combat aircraft barely stay within the bounds of tradtional flight principals, once they get into a stall it's pretty much time to kiss it goodbye and pull the lever. No amount of thrust can combat the fact that the air flow has stopped giving the aircraft any form of direction.
