I have been applying for jobs left, right, and centre, for the last few weeks. I have lost track of what I have applied for (reactive response to working with farktards and wanting to get the hell out) and been declined for some and completely ignored for others- no real surprises there.
This morning I had a second interview at a rather large government organisation, they are impressed - of course it doesn't take much. And so they have put a verbal offer on the table.
$26.00 per annum shy of what I am earning currently and I have a feeling they are not going to budge on this start pointNow for those that have worked in large organisations or a government department will understand that roles are generally “salary banded” – this jobbie has 10 levels in the band and the offer sits at level 4.
So there is substantial room to move up the salary scale, the role itself is mundane (Administration Support) but busy – the later part I love. There is a huge opportunity to move sideways, up, over within the organisation also.
I have applied for an Operations and HR Coordinator at APN – this is the kind of role I would like to get back into, but unlike above, no real room to progress within this Company as far as I can see. This position closed yesterday so they will be currently culling the masses of CVs.
My current role has been affected substantially by the recession, and things will not pick up for the company for at least another year. This is adding uncertainty to my role and I have been made fully aware that "things" are to be reviewed in December.
So……I need a little help/advice from you lot as things are just whirling around in my head and I can’t seem to pin-down any helpful thoughts or feelings as to "where to next from here".
