Old age must be a bitch.

Just had right before my eyes Kamikaze Edna not bother stopping in her nanamobile and head straight out onto the main highway in front of Nissan 4x4i had stopped waiting to turn right into our street and was awaiting the 4x4 to go past so i could when Edna arrived on the scence and must have thought "fuck stopping" and just turned left into its path,a slight squeal of brakes from the 4x4 and whammo straight into Ednas door which no doubt would have woken her from whatever state she was in to do such a thing. She didnt fare to badly and wasnt long before the ambos turned up,i got the ute off the road and went and grabbed a broom from home and helped sweep up the glass and bits of Nanamobile from the road,it was absolutly fucked.Guess there was a good side and that at least it wasnt a bike she pulled out in front of.Lovely old girl but jesus this stuff happens way to frequently with the elderly.

Must be an Oamaru thing , came through there Friday (didn't have time to stop in) Down by Beaurepairs a car heading North had gone out into the park far enough to hit the fence over by the trees (which is a long way off)

Perhap nana had gotten used to driving on nice quiet roads, and hasn't been reminded of the need to look.

It puts more evidence out there that kiwi drivers are NOT as good as they think. I believe most people would fail the scratch-and-win section as well as failing the practical.

yeh, its a case of you don't know what you don't know. Currently you only learn what you don't know in a close call or accident, testing is a far better way to learn it.
Though you can self test too, every so often I get the sense if a car/bike had been in a certain place it could have been an accident cos I didn't check there well enough, or indicate properly etc.

The riskiest things I have witnessed in recent years all involved elderly drivers, from being "undertook" & having the driver turn right as they passed, pushing me into the path of a truck ( I did'nt see you dear..) to being driven over a pedestrian crossing at 80kmh in a 50kmh zone while people were crossing. The driver was totally oblivious. scary, really scary.
