Winter gloves recommendations?

well my gloves have finally give up the ghost after 3 scottish winters and 2 nz winters,
they have done pretty well considering they got near 365day use every year in scotland,

so im after another set,
who in nz does a really good waterproof glove that can handle abuse with out falling to peices,
not to worried about what the glove looks like, as long as it can do the job,
would like a long glove rather than the "sporty" short glove,

any recommendations??

Have the KNOX Zeros, here, these are UK KNOX so made for that kinda winter awesome gloves

I have been impressed with my Teknic "Thunder" pair - certainly in terms of warmth anyway. Haven't had them out in real heavy rain yet so can't vouch for water resistance. They are "supposed" to be waterproof - according to the man that sold them to me anyway...

I have a set of Tecknics - not sure of the model - which I mostly use, and Ixon Warriors for extra warmth .. I'd recommend the Ixon gloves as they are the warmest I've ever ridden in. Except they are soft and fluffy and when they get wet I can't get my hands back in them ...

Neither are waterproof - the Tecknics are probably the most waterproof I've rideen in, but I've never found a truly waterproof set of gloves, and I always have extra gloves in my riding gear in case it gets wet.

Well I've just purchased a pair of Alpinestar SP3's

But my needs are a bit different from yours. I like a thin palmed gloved, that I can use with a pair of thick fleece liners in winter.

I expect my gloves to remain warm when wet, rather than waterproof. Although lots of sno-sneal helps, I find that any glove tends to leak around the wrist. My liners are removable and quick drying.

Cycle Retreads in Barrys Point Rd have waterproof glove mittens which are designed to go over your gloves. $35. I'm getting a pair today. May help?

If you have big hands I have a pair of winter gloves I brought from the UK, leather, thick, long cuff & heavily waxed but I doubt they would be waterproof in a sustained down pour. I always wore waterproof over mitts because i could not find leak proof gloves. My gore tex gloves leak eventually. PM me if you want a cheapy & more details.

I wear BMW winter gloves for work. The company pays, so the cost isn't an issue. They are good, but even they aren't really waterproof. Bloody pricey mind you.

However, I have a pair of Darby Nibos for personal use. I wear a pair of Rain-Off gloves over them when it is wet, the Rain-Offs are totally rain proof.

I like layering, coz you can use whatever layers you need. Not too much point in wearing waterproof gloves on a fine, sunny day. The Nibos are excellent on sunny days, even the cold ones.

Also only MHO, but I have warm dry hands all year round.

Hi, I have only brought in one pair, its not worth bringing in more as the cold is drawing to a close.
I can get more of course in about 5 days, but the pair I have is a Large.

did you see pics on the planet Knox website?

I've watched people try to use these. They spent more time trying to get the mittens over their gloves than putting on helmet, gloves and starting the bike put together ... and then they hated them - too bulky

i cant beleive any one has said,forget bulky winter gloves,get heated grips,then a bulky glove is not required.

Mine have never let me down - dry and toasty-warm in the worst of weather. Only problem with them is if the ambient temperature is over 10 degrees, they are too warm.
