    Cheap security camera setup

I'm looking to set up some security cameras around my property, but I'm on a very tight budget. I was thinking of getting a couple of web cams and connecting them to my computer with some software to record the video. Is that the best plan, seeing I only have around $50 to spend?

I already have one webcam, and I can get another off Trademe second hand for cheap enough with some long USB cables.

Possibly no good if you comp got nicked. However if it was recording to an off site location maybe.

I bought some web cams new for $12.50 each, installed 4 with long USB cables about 100m of usb all up. Using a multi zone recording program that only records at set times when there is movement, had a friend do the program as hes a website desgner/programmer.

Works good as long as you keep free hdd space.

The computer will be in the house.

I just want to catch the cunts who are egging my property and hanging around my house at 1am.

Don't do it on the cheap mate; I've seen niggers get off what should have otherwise been a open shut case if not for shitty pictures putting just enough doubt into the mind of a jury. (in other words, they were actually worse than nothing)

The trouble is that you can't see them in the dark except for when they smile, then all you can see is teeth!

Have you considered hiring a quality one from a security firm?

I haven't really considered that, but I'll look into the costs of doing so.

There are three types of security camera system...

    1. Observational
There is someone at the back of the shop.

    2. Evidential
There is someone at the back of the shop, and they stole something.

    3. Forensic
Fred Smith was at the back of the shop and he stole a gold ring.

    Only (3) is worth anything.

But most customers buy (1) cos its cheap.

That is quite cool, what I would like to see is a Gau-8 version
