Cars hacked through wireless tyre sensors

The tire pressure monitors built into modern cars have been shown to be insecure by researchers from Rutgers University and the University of South Carolina. The wireless sensors, compulsory in new automobiles in the US since 2008, can be used to track vehicles or feed bad data to the electronic control units (ECU), causing them to malfunction.

But what cars have wireless tyre sensors? Non-interlocked bonnets?

Admittedly I don't like the concept that many mechanical linkages are missing. But I suspect there are many things to do with these stories that are:
- Only in America (cause they are stoopid)
- Possible when the 4 planets align, the CAN computer has everything removed and left if vulnerable as possible, then via a direct connection, using the application software approved by the manufacturer - property and status changes are made, and these along with removed constraints cause such effects.

What car? The BMW motorcycle traction control system has 'blue tooth' in the valve stems. Releases air to assist traction if the computer deems it - as well as gives a pressure readout on the dash.
