    Yep, yep, yep, yep!

We didn't opt for SH5 (Napier-Taupo) as it just extends the time on SH1, Goldies mate (the bastard) is always parked up there with his camera...and I don't mind 50. It's also of no consequence to me if riders want to be bored through the gorge, or prefer a wee fang over the Saddle, (which was in very nice condition last time I went over there).

The ride is planned with the 5 photo stops ensuring a 1,000Km ride and the return from Ohingaiti gives newer riders an easy ride down SH1 if they are wearying or just want to finish. Who am I to stand in the way of the lure of a 'road less travelled' if it is a long-cut!

The aim is to do 1,000Kms, attract a few few more riders to try a bit of endurance riding so they might be encouraged to maybe go on to a Grand Challenge...and raise a few bucks for kiddies with Muscular Dystrophy.

We try to include some lesser used roads but learnt a big lesson in '08 that we need to balance that with a flowing ride to have most back by 9:30pm and last year, 95% were back well before that.

    Go for it! ....and enjoy!

So do you allow individuals/groups to mix up the route to suit personal preferance OR do riders have to stick to the mapped out route ??

If you do 1000k's and get the pictures required, then anything goes.

Well there is a lot of talk in the area about this ride already, so the Wairarapa is looking at starting a good crowd again this year. Time will tell. November - how many sleeps is that?
Ride it until the wheels fall off...

I've got a long weekend coming up soon so I thought that I'll go have a look at the roads around Ohingati as I have never been through there before, I've done the rest of the map.... may have a look at Gentle Annie also as I've heard varying reports on how much of the resealing is completed & as I'll becoming from Ohakune may meander through Fordell as its been awhile since I've done them roads also

Will give an update on Napier to Wairoa in next couple of weeks, have to goto Gissy for work.At this stage there is major roadworks on road to Wairoa, the narrow piece through gorge(sorry can't remember name)is being changed to follow railway and beside the viaduct, locals reckon could shave 20mins on trip. Not sure if delays will be in place by Nov or if finished(doubt it)so maybe tricky.
