Stupid 4-wheeler is driving me mad...

bought this kawasaki klf400 4x4 quad. i thought i would use it up in the hills in centrall otago up at our caravan as a toy. Anyway ive done a power of work to it from rear diff bushes to making a bull bar and fitting a 12v winch. Ive spent so many hours on it and its so close to being finished. But after today ive had a guts full of it i had to walk away befor i took to it with a sledge hammer. I had major hassel fitting new steering colum bush but am having big problem tring to get manifold back on it just wont go on. Anyone got any ideas

Walk away. Let the maintenance fairies sprinkle dust overnight, and attack it tomorrow with a fresh outlook.

depends on which manifold you're talking about inlet manifold or the exhaust header pipe ?

    It's probably hardened up slightly

best to smear a bit of grease around the collar that goes on the carby and feed it in through the airbox making sure it locates properly on the carb throat (there's a locator tab that's supposed to line up with an indent on the manifold) clamp it securely then tackle the other end. similar approach smear some grease around the lip of the airbox hole and manipulate the tail of the manifold into place. once they start to harden up they deform slightly and never fit exactly how they're supposed too (they aren't heat treated and shrink & deform over time)

The other option is to soften the manifold up in a bowl of HOT water for a couple of minutes, dry it off then fit it

Sometimes, you just need a bigger hammer...
