    Property marking kits

With the amount of bike thefts going on I thought this may be a way of getting back at the thieving scum.

BNZ banks have a 'Property Marking Kit" which consists of a clear glue type substance made up of a synthetic microdots which shows up under a ultra-violet light.

Perhaps if we place this 'glue' on different areas of our bikes we may be able to break these 'gangs' that are stealing our prides of joy.

Wouldn't it only be useful if you find the thief, to proof they stole your bike? The difficult part is findin the thief, once you find him/her it's relatively easy to find the bike.

microdot technology has shown to work in the reduction of car thefts in the cars that have it...easier for the police to find parts, track down and prosecute the offenders.

Schools in the waikato have been using this on trial as each kit is unique so property can be traced back to the original owner and has significantly reduced the burglaries of property they have been experiencing.

Has been effective in the UK, I believe all new Subarus sold in recent years have been dotted & thefts dropped drastically. It must work, bike insurance is cheaper when you micro dot. Because the dots are all over the place crooks can't ring parts & are too wary having them hanging around their property & garages if plod comes around for a nosey.
