Decided that I don't ride it enough and it seems a waste of a sweet bike to only take it out for the daily commute, so it's time to say goodbye and let someone else enjoy.
I have owned it since new and anyone who knows me knows that it has been very well cared for and loved, I don't thrash things or do wheelies etc. For the last 6 months my husband has been commuting on it and he parks it on the street while he's at work, but aside from that it has always been garaged.
I laid it down very gently in the garage one day and it got a wee scratch on the engine cover when I picked it up and hubby laid it down at basically a standstill one morning, which resulted in a small scratch on the tail piece.
It has been regularly serviced both by ourselves and Wellington Motorcycles. It will need new tyres for the next WOF due in February but there's still enough rubber to get through till then fine. Currently it has Continental Road Attacks on it (which I can highly recommend). I had one of the fork seals replaced in February during its service and new chain and sprockets fitted. The front sprocket is one tooth smaller than what comes stock on the Hornet and it certainly makes a difference in acceleration!
This bike would be perfect for a shorter rider. I'm about 5"6 and found the stock Hornet difficult to manage on tip toes so had this one lowered for me when I bought it. This was done by Robert Taylor who fitted an Ohlins rear shock in it and dropped the front through the forks. Not only has this lowered the bike by a few inches, it has also made the bike noticeably more stable on the road, especially over very bumpy ground, making it generally more comfortable to ride. The stand has also been shortened. I also had a Rider seat custom made that lowered the seat height and slightly narrowed the seat width making it easier to get feet on the ground and also improved the comfort with different foam.
