Pukekohe 13 November 2010 - chicks only training day

Not sure if the upper North Island females are aware (or have read Karel's post), but Karel will be running a training day just for us females at Pukekohe, on November 13 (Saturday).
I went to the first Manfeild training day earlier this year, and will definitely be heading to this one, so long as there's enough females registered to make this happen.

What will you learn/practice? Cornering, slow riding, braking, looking ahead etc etc.

It's a very non-intimidating atmosphere, great fun trainers, and lots of encouragement (from other women and the trainers). I do recommend it.

I have some bad memories watching races at Puke, and it was last on my list of places to ride, but that also makes it going to be that much more worthwhile. Heck, I've walked around there so many times, but not ridden there (yeah, I know there are ART days coming up too, but this is something different).

www.prorider.co.nz has more info, as does the post further down the page by ProRider.

Mods, if you would be willing not to merge this into Karel's post, I'm honestly not sure how many upper North Island women have seen it and realised it's Puke (no, I have no interest except the fact I'm dead keen for this and registrations seem to be a bit slow coming for this one - but it'd be great to hear I'm wrong lol).
    Cheers
    Michelle

    Hi Dutchee

Thank your for bringing this track day to my attention. Hopefully other NI women riders will see it too.

    See you on the 13th

Womens only training day is now a Mixed gender day

We will still run separate groups for the ladies, and the up side is that if you have a male partner or friend you go riding with, you can now do this day together...... sorry for any inconvenience

I think that is a great idea.

So now it will just be a training day except segregated by gender...? I no longer see the added benefit since a mixed gender riding day is actually quite a different concept to a women's only riding day. Not that I am adverse to mixed gender riding - I would have happily gone along either way...if only I were dedicated enough to ride up from wellington friday evening and ride all night until I reached puke!

Maybe there weren't enough entries to make it feasible to run a women's only day?

I was going to attend but I leave that week to visit my daughter in the UK.

There's still a few places open - I'm guessing for guys or gals, so if keen, contact ProRider.
I'm hoping to put a few ghosts to rest and have a damned fine day and gain some confidence.
Be great to see a good amount of us fairer sex out there, not sure on how many are going, but will find out when I get there

Really looking forward to this - only a week to go

Great to hear we're going to outnumber the guys. I hope the weather will be the same as what we've had this week and the yuck looking skies decide to disappear again.
Rie, meant to reply earlier, but life gets in the way sometimes of cyber life (and memory loss kicks in). The ride to Manfeild isn't that far, Prorider also does the course down there (the first one they ran on the N.I. was there, I was dedicated enough to ride down for it and had a total blast, but also went riding around the countryside for the next few days so I could meet up with my husband and spend Easter with him, rather than not bother heading down to Wellington as originally planned).

Just have to say, that it was an awesome day (naturally spelt with an O). The ride home sucked big time (yuck traffic), but that was always expected.
Thankfully the instructors couldn't spot me on the way home, if they thought I tense up when riding, they would've been horrified by the riding on the way home. Death grip, totally, but I hate motorways (funny, I have to ride the damned things every day)
I got a hell of a lot out of it, and will be back for February 28 (Monday), but dragging my husband along this time.

I had wondered if I'd been biased as I'd had a fantastic ride to Manfeild and then around the lower north island afterward, but I think I enjoyed today even more.

Thanks to ProRider for a totally awesome day, and it was great to meet some fellow nutters on bikes to go riding with in the future.
Michelle (who piked out early as my brain was totally overloaded)

Yep. Was an awesome day out there. Cool to see a good mix of girls and guys, as well as different bikes and experience levels. Im sure everyone learnt lots (I know I did). I especially enjoyed the opportunity to put it all together for quite a few laps at the end of the day!
