Unhappy Help removing those bar-end things?

    How do?

Seriously though, I have had a look and I can't see how they come off

There is no bolt/screw/widget holding them on are they just slipped in?

I'm be tempted to wrap some cloth around them to protect them, and then try grabbing them with some vice grips and see what happens if you give them a good pull.

That looks interetsing. They usually screw and are on a really long thread. I can't imagine the end just popping off.

Have you just tried simply rotating them?

It looks like there is a tiny gap between the bar end and the bar. You you tried pushing in a thin strip of metal in case there is something you can push in and release a clasp or something? Perhaps you might feel something in that gap.

Yup, tried rotating they don't move at all! I have also tried using a set of grips to yank them off but they really seem to be on there tight!

Theres no real gap there, that is just a shaded spot, thanks to the crap phone camera. They are as flush up against the handle as I can image something could be.

Ha, I figured that this would be easy silly me!

I may just have to whip down the road to RB and get them to show me

As you are getting rid of them, I assume they are scrap, get the vicegrips on them and if they dont rotate with vice grips then I would be using a drift of some type or large screwdriver/tyre lever and tapping them out either in the visible groove or on to a very tight vise grip. Jumping up and down cursing and blubbering is also underrated as a motivational tool. Or is that just me?

Yup, they are scratched from the previous owners off and I am replacing them with mirrors. I tried the jumping up and down and cursing but it had no effect, I didn't blubber though

I would if I could convince the bike to land on the bar ends only, but I think the laws of physics are against me there

Since they are scrap anyway I'd go with the vice grips advice. There has to be a thread involved somewhere, grab them and start turning.

Why not center-punch and run a 6mm drill up the guts?

Thanks for all the suggestions guys, turns out some knob decided it would be a great idea to weld the dam things in!

So I thought bugger it and just got a whole new bar fitted

So mirrors on, bike looking sweet and I can finally see whats happening behind me!

I guess that's one extreme way to fix it! Glad your happy with the result.
