    Steering dampers and fitting kits

can anyone tell me if a steering damper has to be fitted to only specific bike that it was made for. Or, can you buy say an ohlns damper and buy the fitting kit for your individual bike to fit it to?

i dont know if dampers for sports bikes are all pretty much the same and its only the fitting kit that differs.........or not?

    some info please?

Oh and to answer your question, yes they are model specific in relation to the stroke of the dampener. If the stroke is incorrect, ie too short, than your steering lock will be reduced and the dampener will most likely suffer damage. Of course you can get generic fitting dampeners, you'll just want to make sure it mounts correctly and has the correct stroke.

Don't skimp on quality for this kind of stuff. A tail tidy? sure its okay to get a shit brand from thailand, but for critical parts like steering/brakes, you don't want to risk it.
