    $664 million

$646 million dollars. That's the latest quote for costs of home 'accidents'. Ten times more than motorcyclists costs!

Twelve folk a week get dead from home accidents! Twelve people a week! Where are we? One a month, maybe?

Do any of these 'home accident' folk pay a targeted levy? Nup.

So why are we being tormented and pilloried, and charged?

    It's an outrage.
    Only 'Now' exists in reality.

The government is looking for the easiest target, bikers just happen to be an easy target for them.

I wonder what ACC would class that as, a bike crash or a home accident?

Actually, they have just handed out $1.6 billion of taxpayers money, so what's a bit more.

Forget about the inequities in the ACC system for a bit and just look at that toll! Almost twice the number that die on the roads.
What are they doing about it? Apart from a little pamphlet and an occasional ad on TV, nothing!
Far safer out there riding than being at home, I reckon.

    Interesting concept......

I can see this coming into play to be honest, another stealth tax....home accident levy, the insurance companies who by virtue are nicely tucked away in the governments pocket will see a benefit in adding that to your premiums.

"Ahhh, but what about health insurance, does that not cover me...?"

"No missus, thats seperate. This is a further tax to cover the cost of your accident"

    "Please explain"

    "No"

    "Why?"

"Cos we are a bastard scumbag insurance company working on behalf of a greed driven government with friends in every boardroom over the ditch"

    Bastards....!!

You're not comparing apples with apples - look at the numbers of people in their homes at any moment compared with how mnay on bikes...silly comparison.

We got hit because we are too stupid - we fell for Nick's simple method of getting what he wants - if you want 10 you ask for 20 and then knock it back in negotiation and end up getting 12! We fell for it like babes and fools.

Why did we not get public support? Well I saw 2 bikes on short distance to work in Nelson today - one wearing shorts and the other belting past slow cars on the yellow line. This is Nelson - we don't have trafific jams! Arses like this means we will never get public support.
Stuff everything...I've always got my bike.

Erm, no guys...this is a national government.... like, you know .........SOCIALIST government...

Promoting these things in the media is their way of creating outrage, and allowing PRIVATE insurance companies to take over.

PRIVATE insurance is the backbone of socialism.
