Which new tyres for my zx10?

hey all. getting new rubber on my bike this week. ive not bought tyres for a litre bike before and need some advice. id like some opinions on the various tyres that people are using right now

currently running conti race attack medium which were on the bike when i got it and never felt any slipping or sliding on track( track day newbie but got plenty planned this summer)

    120/70 front
    190/55 rear

i was hedging towards Pilot power 2ct's bridgestones but im not sure whether i need to spend that much. should i consider / dunlops/ metzler etc?

i dont do commuting as i live 2 minutes from work and cant be arsed to get the gear on to be on my bike for like a couple of minutes.

so i will only be riding on weekend blasts and track days.

    thanks

The Bridgestone BT-016 would be worth looking at, too

So, you should certainly look at something pretty sticky, as you need it to perform on the track as well as the road - compromise is normally the word here !
Something along the lines of the Pilot powers, or Sport Attack, or similar would be a good compromise.
There is an article that "Motorad" magazine did recently on exactly this sector of tyres, and you would find it interesting.
The pilot Pure is getting pretty average reviews overseas, but is certainly in the right area for what you want.

Any Street/Track combination tire will probably be OK. The Pirelli Rosso Corsa, BT-016, Dunlop Q2, Conti all those tires are good for track and street. I don't have personal experience with 2cts.... I've heard lots of people rave about them, however one experienced rider who hated them for track use, because they took forever to get up to temp, unless it was really hot out.... dunno.

If you are spending a lot of time at the track, I personally love the Dunlop Ntecs, so the current one is the Sportmax 211GPA.... this will wear out pretty quickly on the street. Also, IF you happen to end up with the GPAs, remember that they run very low pressures 29cold front 21 cold rear.

Warning... the following might be a bit much.... but......

Another approach might be to have two sets of rims.... on for the street and one for the track. You can than either use a more street oriented tire for when you are away from the track, and a more track oriented tire at the track. Or you could just use your old track tires for street riding..... OR you can say, screw that noise.... I'll have a spare set of rims, but I'm keeping rains on there.... like that I can go terrorize the bunnies either on the street or track when it is wet out. Ok ok... that's pushing it a little.

I thought the BT016 was pretty good until I read that test - reminder to keeps ones options and mind open.
    Here for the ride.

Yea they came second to last out of all the tyres I think , not that great . The Pirelli Rosso Corsa came 1st
& the Metzeler Sportec M5 came a close 2nd . Trying the Metzy M5 next as their M1's are now been stopped .

ok then, so it seems as though it depends on which of the road/track tyres im going to be able to get at the best price then. other than that, as long as they are round and rubber, all good. im not going to be riding the to their limit quite yet, but i think i ll go for the contis right now as thats whats on the bike, and never had any issues at all with them........and i had zero chicken strips after me last track day....depends what deals are availabel i suppose

thanks for all your help guys
