When I was a lad ( Colin Meads was still an All Black ) playing rugby I somehow managed to come out of the first ruck of every game with a blood nose - wasn't until I much latter I found out the captain/coach thought I played better after seeing some of my blood on my sleeve and HE gave me a smack in the nose first ruck of every game -![]()
I never contemplated "chatting" to him about it - he was really big and a double hard bastard - It had no benefit and I wouldn't recommend it as a motivational technique.
