I've watched this thread from the start and noted the following frequent changes ...

06/09/10 - Leave from Northwood Repco to go to Chequered Flag and then return to Avon City Suzuki
15/09/10 - Option of a Hanmer run - organisers will decide which on the day
27/09/10 - Leave from Northwood Repco to go to Akaroa and then return to Avon City Suzuki
01/10/10 - Leave from Northwood Repco to go to ?? and then return to Northwood Repco

I may be wrong, but that last change along with the comments that were made to go with it in the same post, give me the impression that one Suzuki shop didn't want the ride to end at an opposition Suzuki shop and the organisers buckled under. Hardly the strong organisation that can't be swayed that I would think it would want to present itself as.

Overall it leaves me with the impression of an organisation that couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery.

I've also watched the original thread from day 1 to see how things evolved. That's had it's shaky moments too, but your president seems to be doing a good job at sticking to the party line and keeping the troops in order.

In case you're wondering - No, I'm not associated with BRONZ or any other motorcycling group, just KB. I wish the organisation well and if you prove yourselves more competent in time I may join. Hopefully you'll take this feedback on board in the light that it's intended. Enjoy your ride and I hope it goes as you want.

ill be up front with you

The reason a unnamed dealership pulled out was THE LACK OF RESPONSE to the calendar event booking and I dont blame them, would you spend money of a event that has attracted 3 confirmed bookings.

The reason for the other changes were development of MAG representative group here in Christchurch, these things happen when you get committees.

I just want to say this I COMMEND ALL THOSE PEOPLE WHO PUT THEMSELVES OUT THERE, NO MATTER WANT NAME YOU CALL YOUR SELF.

If your from Christchurch you would know that the two shops you unfairly accuse are separated by at least 5 k
I will also tell you Im involved with both bike shops with different things one of which will become public soon.
and they are aware of that involvement in fact if you go round some other bike shops in hornby and town you may find some posters with the yellow diamond on it

My comment about the "Horrible lot from Sportszone" was tongue and check only hence the smiley, I suggest in future if you dont have all the facts ( because you dont) .............................................
lastly I thank you for your good wishes I think you are registered too

about your last closing statement I don't deny you your opinon thats why "I served to protect that right"

Lack of response has never been an issue Peter. The purpose of a calendar event is to get the event out there. The annual pink ribbon ride has 8 registered, they get hundreds. We have 7 registered for our event on sunday and thats including Anne and myself (no other MAG memeber has registered) but we are expecting a couple of hundred at the very least. Sometimes it better not to include the registration option. It gives a faulse indication....always.

The rolling protest ride last year a week prior to Bikeoi had about 100 registered, we got closer to 400 on the day.

I tried to avoid the topic with the bike shop

we know that but this bike shop got nervous I tried to talk them round but somtimes if you push too hard.
my reply was prompted by the implication that we caved under pressure from another source when was never the case

I note you've edited your response to me since it's 1st posting, but since I've gone to the trouble of writing up a reply, here's your 1st version with my reply ...

No, probably not, but then maybe the lack of registrations has something to do with the apparently poor organising that I alluded to in my last post. Perhaps if a clear and definite plan had been put forward and stuck to from the start you would have attracted more registrations. But then maybe people have just been watching like me to see how it pans out. Having been following the original MAG NZ thread I was quite interested in the Canterbury branch, and in the meeting and ride 1st proposed in this thread, but lost interest as the lack of organisation became apparent.

What apathy? You mean the lack of commitment to a definite plan shown in the organisation here?

    Huh?

Not an accusation but an observation and interpretation of your wording. What is the relevance of the location of the two shops you mention?

Good for you. I’m not involved with either of them. Both of our statements here are irrelevant.

I didn’t anything assume anything different.

I in fact had none of “the facts” and never claimed to have. I made it clear that I was commenting on how things appeared to be, based on the information presented by yourself. Also, as MAG NZ is putting itself forward to represent NZ motorcyclists, and as I myself am a NZ motorcyclist, I feel quite entitled to not “stay the ...................out of”. The thing about putting yourself forward as you have done is that some will agree with you, and some will not, or will seek more clarity, and telling people to “stay the ...................out of” isn’t generally a good look for the organisation.

Nope, just watching to see if MAG NZ is a group I wish to be associated with at this point.

Your version 2 post - much better explained thanks. Perhaps if things had been explained more along these lines as the thread progressed misunderstandings and the opportunity to read between the lines wouldn't arise?

Exactly, look how many people register on here for bike rallies etc versus how many actually turn up.

Hey, speaking as a registered MAGger I'm in for this whatever if I can make it... it's a ride, a chance for a gasbag and a good day (hopefully) to forget all the recent stress... and from the stress part I can totally understand why the event would be fluid from all parties. Hell, we're not bussing in kindy kids, we don't need permission slips signed in triplicate from Mommy & Daddy 2 months before hand - just come with a full tank, a few hours and an expectation of a medium road ride; learners too, Hawk has said he'll sort support for that (or I'll do it as well, puttering along is still better than sitting round for the next damn shake!)

PS - as those considering MAG and what it might achieve, it's only $20 and for me they're the only site I see trying to get some general publicity across - eg the crumpled CAR pic from the cheese-cutters, not just "oh we're motorbikers, we want XXX" yada yada as I've felt from some other groups. If we keep not connecting - sorry, bad pun - with the majority tin-toppers we'll always be on the losing end... We saw that with the ACC levies, if you can't make the public equate with your goals, you're still an isolated, "who cares" minority.

Either way, whoever you chose - MAG, BRONZ, whoever - get INVOLVED. It's like Neighbourhood Watch - when you want the support it's too late to start from scratch, and all it takes is being a bit organised beforehand.

See you all on the day?
He who shall go stately at the back and not stress out.
So Gareth what was it you said about MaxF's "Funky ass curves"? - God, now I'm worried...

You can be forgiven for thinking that way, but no, we are not BRONZ under a different name, we are MAG-NZ and we have a completely different angle and approach. Seriously read about what we are all about. www.mag-nz.org We have some really fundamental differences to BRONZ.

I wonder if you can forgive a newbie to the block for underestimating the response to MAG-NZ. I can honestly say I have been overwhelmed by the response to the arrival of MAG-NZ, the support has been amazing. We have not even "officially" launched and I reckon this to be a little like holding a tiger by the tail. There have been some questions asked, that may not have been answered as appropriately as they could have been, by members that have been doing their best to articulate what they belive MAG-NZ is all about. I wont apologize for them, MAG-NZ is all about ACTION, and our members are passionate, determined individuals, and are encouraged to speak out. Our official communication policy is almost ratified, and should hopefully level out the responses, though how individual members respond to anything posted on here is up to them. I flew to Wellington this afternoon, will be home again tommorow night, after attending a meeting here to have a chat about the future of representaion for bikers in NZ.

Must say you are off to a great start.

Thought about PR as a career?
