Storms are getting worse and more frequent
Are they? The global indications are that they are neither mre, nor less frequent than in the past, its just that now we have satelites we are able to detect them more accurately. At present there is a lull in the number of storms being recorded world wide.

Should we be more prepared for the unexpected, as it becomes more likely?

    Your thoughts?
Yes indeed. As we learn more about natural events we also learn more about how to be prepared and to cope.

Completely agree. The development of technology and the globalisation of media reporting merely highlights what has been happening all along.

We are tiny creatures very much at the mercy, so to speak, of natures destructive power. Best be as prepared as practically possible.

This is more on the button about what is happening,, faster media communication world wide.
Just 60 years ago it took days for news to travel from the front lines of WW2 to our newspapers about what our army was up to on the war front, now its takes less than 30 seconds to know whats happening in Afganastan.
Add to the fact that 95%+ homes have internet connections, and we can personally search the world for information, not relying upon the media to inform us, it gives the appearance of an increase of all this activity world wide...
Bt it is as simple as the increase of speed in the reporting of the events,
Plus the competition to get anything into the news from anywhere.
Also with the increase of the worlds population, humans are now living in places that 2000 years ago were not inhabited, so nobody knew what happened there.............

There are around 4000 NZ headaches every year.

One of them did some damage in 2010.

There may be another one causing damage in 2011, but then again there might not.

There was a really bad one way down south in 2009. No one noticed.
