Because you weren't insured doesn't mean it was your fault. yeah I agree it is too much of a risk to take but it still doesn't mean it was her fault. Probably. We don't know & the insurance company certainly doesn't know if you were going to hit them.
People who drive off should be shot, that could have easily been a bike being sandwiched & major injuries.
