    Cycle lanes?

Sorry if this has been asked before?

Can anyone direct me to the rules around motorcyclists using cycle lanes, or is it all over the place depending on the council?

    Thanks

The clue is in the name - cycle lanes. See loads of scooters using them in Dunedin, be fine until the cops decide to do something about it, but that will only happen after cyclists start complaining.

A friend stopped in a queue of traffic decided to let her son off. He checked mirror and saw no pedal bikes coming but just as he opened door and stepped out a motorcyclist went flying past in the cycle lane, just missing son and door.

I noticed this arvo scooters and motorcycles using cycle lanes, and occassionally on the NW motorway see motorcycles using the cyclelane

I'm pretty sure it's illegal to operate any motor vehicle in a cycle lane, but I don't really see the problem as long as you're not doing anything dangerous.

    Found It- Thanks

Wasn't on Wiki but then went through links to LTSA. Answer of course is NO! So all those naughty riders I see doing it are one day going to be ticketed. So glad I have not followed by example.

Got a URL for the LTSA web site on the issue? Then it can be added to the Wiki.

ps. The Wiki normally only contains what is legal, as opposed to illegal.

Is that legal? Also - poor job of checking that nothing was coming.

Don't know about it being legal. But he did check for bicycles and motorbike came suddenly out of no where so my guess is threading through traffic and then into cycle lane.
