Good on you too for taking that action.

RIP to the young fella.
I agree, it is up to us as road users to report dangerous roads, even if they listen to just one of us, it may save a life somewhere.......
you could pretty much say the majority of NZ roads are crap!
councils only have so much revenue to spend on roading and unless the ratepayers are prepared for a substantial increase in their rates, where is the money gonna come from?
You have to ride to changing conditions and within your abilities folks.
Quite right Katman. However, at times the road condtiions are very poor and not easily seen. As was the case with friends of mine, whom only travel at the speed limit, and ended up writing off their brand new beema, due to not seeing the road clearly due to trees and sunlight etc. So therefore, it can be up to us to report these sort of things prior to this happening to some other poor sole, especially this chappy who died.![]()

I agree with him Katman. Nothing wrong with your message, but you can't chastise people for doing the same thing that you're doing.
I think it can be a bit ghoulish on here at times, but ultimately I'd rather people were talking about accidents so that there is some chance their subconcious might remind them that it could be them next when they're winding it on.
Good Points... do ya think they could spend more on roads, and education, and employ the people on the dole, supervised by engineers and the like to fix the roads, no they would rather just fork out the money to the unemployed. In Denmark and many other countries you have to work for the dole!
Interesting to see this thread degenerate into one on road conditions.
Speaking from experience, the Kaitokes (the roads that lead up to the Rimutaka Hill Road in North Wellington - Upper Hutt) used to be in rather poor condition and people complained about it.
They rebuilt the roads, and the first comments made on this site about it were about how disappointing it was that they'd turned a technical 80km/hr road into 100km/hr sweepers which could be easily taken at over 200.
My point is that the Kaitokes used to set you up quite nicely for the 'takas and now there's a very quick and smooth road which sets you up for an extremely technical road.
This means that there have been a few accidents where people initially hit the 'takas and they're not prepared.
Yes our roads could be better. But in general most riders take into account the road condition and I for sure would take sunstrike into account if it happened and slow the hell down as my visibility would be affected. Paekakariki Rd for example is a perfect illustration of where sun through trees causes havoc with your sightlines.
I'm not saying ANY of this contributed to this poor fellow's accident. I have no idea what happened. What happened to him is a sad but unfortunately all too common occurence.
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.
