Well done for being aware and avoiding an incident

while you are in the right and he is a dick you handled it well

I have spent a fair amount of time riding overseas (especially s.e. Asia) and it allways mellows me out to how NZers drive. This would not be worth a mention in a lot of countries as it would be standard behaviour. It is also standard behaviour to be ready to avoid the sometimes random movement of others in traffic.

With our low licence standards, preocupation with speeding tickets and immigration policy I dont see things getting better.

ive had that too. but when you follow them to the next red light, and hop off, they notice that kevlar knuckled gloves wre going to really fucking hurt if they want to play the tough guy game, and they suddenly become very polite and apologetic. funny that.
Ive seldom had to actually DO anything, but getting off, and making them think 'fuck, is he gonna hit me'? is enough to make them say sorry, and think twice about doing it again.

Yesterday i was in the fastlane of northshore motorway going southbound, sitting on the left wheel track of the cagger infront.

After a while i saw a pair of headlights speeding up towards my tail, i thought he would stop the acceleration and fall behind like normal sane drivers. Instead he slowed down about 1m from my rear wheel and began to creep up to my rear wheel, his front bumper would of been in line wiht my rear axle, so he was between my rear wheel and the center concrete barrier. This all happened quite quickly, as soon as i realized , i changed to the left lane, only to have the fucker beep at me for a good 3 seconds.

Whats wose is that he had a baby on board sign on the back. Otherwise i wouldve sped up and kicked the door in.

I was damn confused, still am.. y the hell would some one do such a thing? I mean he just saved himself a car-length worth of time. I mean i ended up filtering past him whilst giving him the finger. Still quite miffed about the whole situation.

Have to agree a bit here.
I used to have a problem when I was all polite like. Cars/Trucks/Buses didn't give a fuck about me.

I now ride with black jacket, jeans and a matt black helmet. Everyone avoids me as they think I am some kind of drug dealer.

Wearing a hi-viz does seem to bring more shit upon yourself.

However this is the sort of situation where it's better to just ride off. Then search his numberplate in the afternoon, and deflate all four wheels, fill the exhaust with builders foam and turn his water mains off then fill in with quick-set cement.

Then live and let live, I say.

I feel that the .50 BMG is a tad overkill for normal road use, too much co lateral damage. I personally favour a cut down .410. Effective for short range and much easier to aim. Perhaps if we drove or rode armed people would be more polite...or dead.

Last time this happened to me I pulled in front of them and stopped (traffic was stationary). The dumb look on his face while the traffic ahead advanced and I just sat there was priceless. He certainly got the message that he couldn't push me around in that way.

I like this plan. It seems to be the same everywhere with these crazy 4WD, they just don't care until they have a car accident. A hand grenade would set one straight, no doubt about it. I certainly try to give people a talk when they cut me off, or at least make them realize what they have done.

Fair point about the shoulder.. but my reference was before the merge area near the Terrace off ramp.

I use the shoulder as well ..but I never exceed the 50 and rarely use it when traffic is in flow... BTW is that illegal? I've seen Plod giving someone a right lecture during peak traffic there once.

Why do i use that shoulder?

Well I used to stay nice n comfy in the lane until this winter when a guy on a GN250, 1 car behind me got jack-n-the-boxed by a dumb fcuk cage driver going to fast into this area with cold brakes...litterally saw him pop up above the car roof behind me as his wee 250 was turned into a Unicycle hood ornament on the BMW from behind him... other cage driver wasn't to impressed either!!

That sounds like the right time to say "fuck this" and lane split well away from that fucktard.
