    where to people?

so where are we off to this week. Any sugestions? I have been scouting some alternative routes lately to odd locations that there is no point in heading towards other than the magic roads. Some of them will be best left until later in the season when its light for longer tho.

Ah, I thought we were rumbling a bit more than usual on this ride
Didn't get a chance to check out all the pretty bikes, lots of new ones and new faces.
    Still, plenty of time ay?

Would not sumner , sumit , down to govners, on to the weatsheif be just as good, at that time of the night it should be a good ride if not wet or windy. Im sure that we are good enought as a pack to ride that route with a larger saftey blanket of skill. But if wet or windy then the tunnel would be best.

Earlier in the day that would be my choice however that late in the day the sunstrike would be horrendous!!!!!!!!!!!

well we do all need to practice how to ride safly in all conditions, so it would be a good lesson, although the sun would not quite be that low at 645pm. maybee for the last few k's. would mean that we would have to ride a bit slower... IMO

That road is too unforgiving to the unwary who are blinded by sunstrike.

At the time of day that we ride, that road is not safe to ride east to west because the sun is so low!!!! There are enough dangers on that road without riding blind.

A lot of the runoff areas involve several hundred feet of freefall with either an ambulance or a hearse at the bottom.

If you don't respect the Summit Road it WILL kill you!!!!!!!!!!

Very good points GP , sunstrike already claimed one WNR rider a couple of years ago. And besides that, riding out to Sumner is tedious at best. one of the best bits of the bays ride is the section between Lyttleton and Governors bay, would be a shame to miss that out.

well I guess if we dont give out options then we will not find new routes that could be worth a try

I agree. We used the route you suggested as the first part of the last SatRide.

During the day with the sun high in the sky, starting the Summit Road from Evans Pass is not a problem. However late in the day the sun makes it too risky.

While I have something to do with organising our rides, I will not put our members at unnecessary risk!

I am interested in all routes that anyone has to suggest. Safety however is important to me, I do not like seeing our riders headed to hospital.

Thankyou for your input Subike, please continue to share with us!!!!
