Yep, that's what I was thinking. Those that want to can carry on over the hill and back to Little River, those not so keen can put their feet up at the pub. I'd rather head out and back to Akaroa while it's still light and then just head home around the lake

That reminds me, must go and clean the last batch of those off my visor, they are lovely aren't they.

sunset is at 7:59 on wednesday, if we leave at 6:30, with no stops, and speed the whole way, you might make it to akaroa and back in 1.5 hours....

my preference would be to ride the hill in the dark, I like it.

Where are you posting the Sunday ride??
Sunday ride was posted a couple of weeks ago on the SatRide thread.

And I took it that Neels was suggesting some of the group extend the to Akaroa and back to the Little River pub.

I don't have any problems with that idea. I might even join in if there is enough daylight left.

Will have to find out what time the fish and chip shop closes in Akaroa. They do GF fish and chips.
And remember ...... if it hasn't got one of "Uncle Flip's" prosthetic kickers it isn't a real motorbike!!!

If I'm on this "750" I'll be stopping at Little River, not wanting to push myself to far just quite yet!

Google maps gives our route as 96Km to Akaroa. I'm not sure but I think the service station closes at 19.00 to 20.00hrs. I will try to confirm that.

170 to 180km return at the outside. If you topup before you leave town??????? What range does your new bike have???

It holds 2 litres less than the old Hornet @ 17 litres, and is averaging about 7 litres / 100km. So in theory about 240km maximum. Might be running on fumes on the way back if I get a bit too vigorous .... oh well, theres always the AA

The worst economy I got on the Hornet was 230km (after a rapid WNR to Duvauchelles) on which I would normally get 250 - 280, ran out of gas on the way to work the next day 10km short of petrol station! Mr AA brought out gas but wanted cash for it. I thought that they would just send you a bill, felt a bit guilty as he gave me enough gas to get to the petrol station anyway.
These aren't the bikes we're looking for....

I have a few litres of gas in a tin in the back of the side car, and in a pinch I could get some out of the Harley.

Ummmmmm draining my Harley's vital fluids to feed a young predator........

If I am reading the map right you intend heading through Sumner and over Evans pass, just so you know that is still currently closed, might pay for someone to check aa roadwatch, of if you want I can check on the day up to the time I leave work.
Its not the destination that is important its the journey.

Sounds like a good theme for a horror movie eh Hopefully she'll be right, but I remember thinking that just before I ran out the first and last time .... I presume the big BP station in Halswell is open late? Should make it there ok.
