Someone looks after these people

Caging home after work last night about 8.30pm. Heading North along Cobham Drive. For those who don't know, Cobham Drive is a four lane inner city artery with a median strip down the middle. Speed limit 80k.

I'm approaching my left turn exit and I see, coming towards me in the north bound lane, a little car heading south! Into the face of a solid wall of oncoming traffic...

Now wouldn't ya think the driver'd wake up to the fact that something was bloody wrong? And maybe pull over and turn around? Or something? Hell, I would anyway.
But nah - not this one. Kept coming right on through the traffic - which managed to swerve round him/her somehow. Little car them left Cobham Drive by turning onto Normandy Ave - another divided, four lane road. Still into the face of solid traffic. Still not getting the message.

I couldn't believe nobody stacked into this little car - must have been a few near misses. I really wanted to get a look at the driver but not possible without crazy driving from me as well.

Like I said, somebody must look after idiots...

I get confused too...but not that confused...yet...

I thought disoriented and elderly too - plus maybe also drunk and asian...(as in used to driving on the right...for all you PC buggers)

That last one is a big call considering most of Europe and the America's drive on the right whereas most of Asia drives on the same side as us, apart from China but rickshaws don't count.

If you see someone driving the wrong way on a motorway it is probably an old codger who took a wrong turn and now is a little bit confused. If you see a foreigner on the wrong side of the road I would put my money on them being an Israeli.

Not a serious suggestion Berries. I thought it most likely an elderly person as you suggest. Specially since the car was one of those dinky wee jobs favoured by some such persons...

all drive on the right and yes its a pain in the arse going over borders and having to change over especially in the same car as it feels especially wrong when the steering wheel is on the wrong side

Bit harder to justify in NZ but I have seen a couple of older asian women driving the wrong way around Panmure Roundabout (which is a scary roundabout at the best of times)

This thread has just reminded me, the silly season is rapidly approaching. Not sure if it's just my town but once the hoards descend at Christmas the roads round here are lethal. Their is no guarantee that drivers will even stay on tarmac as they rubber neck, get lost, weave about & generally travel without the use of their brains or eyes. Time to put the Scania back on the road.

Was just pointing out that not all Asian drivers have to come to grips with driving on our side of the road, Japan, India and Indonesia are a couple of biggies. They are just crap drivers if I can use a shocking generalisation.

Found a good British website once that gave information about driving on the left. It said that first time visitors may want to practice before leaving their own country. Tongue in cheek, obviously.

So if we're going to the USofA, we should try driving on the right hand side of the road for a couple of weeks, huh..?

Shouldn't be a problem - apart from the mayhem...


Maybe that's what I saw in the OP...he was practising for his American trip...
