*EDIT: Price should be $2800. I will try to figure how to change this.
I've owned this bike for the past five years or so and have recently upgraded to a bigger bike, so this one needs a new home.
WOF until December 18. The reg expires in a week, but I will put another three months on it.
Positives:
- Great fuel economy. I regularly get 60 MPG out of it (although I do ride like a nana).
- Recently painted tank, wheels and frame, which all look mint.
- Regularly serviced. My brother is a mechanic and services it for me every few months (the downside of this is that I don't have the paperwork to back this up like I would if I had got it serviced elsewhere). Oil has been changed regularly, and usually every 1500 KM
- No major problems or mechanical issues in the 5 years that I have owned this bike.
- Ideal for a first 'big' bike. I got this bike when I first got my full licence and it has been a perfect choice as a daily commuter and occasional tourer.
- Comes with a few spare parts, a luggage rack (not seen in the pictures) and a workshop manual.
Negatives:
- The front sprocket has been welded onto the output spline. My mechanic brother doesn't believe that this is a major issue though, as when the sprocket finally needs replacing (it has lots of life in it yet), it can be ground off and a new one fitted. It is an engine out job to replace the output spline, hence the reason that we have chosen to weld it.
Other:
- Has a remote alarm, but I have disconnected this, as it has stopped working.
- GS500's are notorious for being cold blooded and this one is no different. It takes a good 10 minutes or so until it is warm enough to ride without the choke, but after that it will ride and idle fine.
- Test rides are welcome, as long as you bring your full license with you. The 'you bend it you buy it' rule also applies.
