Paddock stand for GSF250

Hi

Just weighing up the options for a paddock stand for my recently acquired GSF250.

It comes with a centrestand, but that doesn't allow the back wheel to rotate, so I was going to get a rear paddock stand for cleaning/oiling the chain etc.

I've not had a paddock stand before so just wondered what's best and whether I need bobbins etc on my bike? The ones I've been looking at are:

Torin model that I think just lifts the swingarm without bobbins

Torin model that I think needs bobbins

Front AND Rear stands for the same price of one of the Torin stands - quality must be a bit shit?

Oxford stand - either with bobbins or just lifting swingarm. Bit more pricey.

I'm guessing it's better to go with bobbins?

Would be grateful for any advice.

Choosing the 'without bobbins' option means that it is more than likely to fit more bikes which means it will be of more use to you in the future.

i think my one cost 169.00 for a paddock stand that does not have bobbins. it does the job just fine. helps with aftershocks...
too bad it wasn't on when the big one happened!

Sorry to hear about the earthquake damage, does insurance cover it?

it would but i dont really want to pay the excess eh, so i'm going to just live with the scratches on the exhaust and will replace the break lever at some stage.

hope the Torin does the job for you.

Not matter what stand you get, get the v cursors and bobins as well. You might have to fit new bobins to subsequent bikes but it's a lot more stable.

Must say there is nothing wrong with the House of Custom Stands.

Think about it, you are really buying a bit of tubes steel, some fittings and some wheels.
The price shouldn't be too high......
Quality of the stands are great, and fit my 250 well. Can be used with or without bobbins, and you have enough parts to make two rear stands if need be.

Thanks for your reply quickbuck. I was a bit concerned that they'd have a lot of flex in them, which would be a bit of a worry if doing any heavy work. But I was hoping someone who had used them would notice my thread - if you reckon they're OK I might just go with them, certainly a good deal.

Yup.
Just have to ensure the Fasteners are tight.
They are stable enough to hold a bike. There is a caution not to sit on or start the bike on a little sticker..... BUT that would be there to mitigate risk.
There is no issue with starting the bike on them, as long as it is not left unattended.... Like ALL paddock stands.

Yeah all I want them for really is cleaning & lubing the chain & sprockets. Front one is just a bonus. Be handy when I take the wheel in to get some new rubber on it though.

Of custom, very happy with them, paid for them and
