Are there 1 or 2 bulbs in the tail light?

I didn't know my tail light stopped working until one night a cop pulled me over aside the road and told me!!
Now, I'm confused. Becuase when I pull the break, the tail light comes on. So I assume there is nothing wrong with the light bulb just somehing wrong with wiring? Or there are two bulbs in the light and one of them is dead? Can some one gives me some idea on this issue? Cheers

There are normally one or two bulbs in the tail light that have twin fliliments.
A low wattage filament for the tail light and a higher wattage fillament for the brake light.
Both fillaments are in the one bulb when one bulb is fittet.
Repacing the twin filiment bulb should cure your problem unless there is a fault with your brake switches at the hand brake lever or foot brake lever.
Twin bulbs sometimes are sometimes of differing wattages, if you have a twin bulb lamp.
But seeing as it is your tail lamp that is not working i would say your low wattage fillamnet has blown, just change the bulb

Generally a single bulb with dual filaments.

Only about $3 to replace 'em.

the other guys above have it right. some bikes have one buld, some have two.
your ginny should be one bulb. the bulb is a twin filament, which is basically a two stage setup.
one filament goes all the time, when you have your lights on
th second filament inside the bulb only comes on (and thus makes it brighter) when you touch the brakes
