I will be making the ride from Tauranga to Taupo to show my support for this cause. I am only sorry work and lack of finance does not permit me to do the whole thing but the company I work for is proud to sponsor one of our staff to do the full ride.
I abhor violent behaviour to ones children or partner and I see this as a platform to let others know such behaviour is wrong, If the women want to organise a ride against womens violence against their partners or children then go for it, just don't moan that a group of men are saying to other men its not ok !
Don't read into this cause anything more than that, we men are saying it's not ok , thats it, thats all !
Countdown is on :-)
Can't wait to get on the WWR again this year and catch up with some old friends and new.
Was a life-changing experience for me last year and it is inspiring for abused women to be amongst men who ride bikes AND don't tolerate violence or look the other way.
The SMF and Patriots rock.
I made life-long friends last year and I know many of them will ride again this year.
The message is getting out there slowly but surely and THE RIDE is playing a big part in that.
I hope people who can't join the whole ride will come and get as much of a taste of the Kaupapa ask they can.

Fantastic cause to be involved in. Thanks for getting the word out Conquiztador. I will join the ride in Wellington and see how far work and money allow me to get at the time.

Bumpety...
I'm really sorry for picking on your cause and i'm sure i'll recieve plenty of bad rep but seeing this makes me really sad.
Why is it that this movement is only about male on female violence? do abused males not deserve the same support and protections afforded to women?
Perhaps it's a little raw for me as my best mate just got out of another abusive relationship, but I know of a number of men abused by women but only met one women abused by a man ( not to detract from the impact it made on those involved ), would this cause not beter for everyone if it addressed all domestic violence? or is it still not cool to talk about husband bashing yet?
This probably isn't the best way to raise a question like this and i'm sorry for hijacking your thread but I thought it was important to ask.
Hi. White Ribbon is about male violence towards females. It could also be about female violence towards males, teenage violence towards grandparents, grandparents violence towards grandchildren, violence towards pets etc. But the focus is about male violence towards females. This does not mean that the White Ribbon or the riders are OK with other type of violence inside the family. "It is not OK" is one of the slogans. If you came along you would find that there are males, females, grandparents and teenagers participating in this ride. We all openly take a stance against violence.
I am very sorry to hear about your friend and the abuse he has suffered from his partner. Sadly statistics show that the main violence in a home is towards women by men. This is what White Ribbon is focusing on. And the White Ribbon Ride is about bike riding males having the courage to break the stereotype and making the pledge never to be violent towards a woman. White Ribbon is not about being OK with other type of violence, but about making a stand against violence and in particular mens violence towards women.
Come along and take a stand, we would love to have you there and perhaps you could get a few answers to some of your questions?
See you on the ride.
One would hope that by taking the pledge we are serious about the message. By breaking it you would have let your self and your family down. This is something you would have to then live with. The White Ribbon is about change because you want to change not about dealing out punishment for failing.
