    Pinlock problem

I have two visors for the helmet (Arai Chaser). I swap between clear and tinted depending on conditions, day/night riding etc. I usually swap the pinlock with the visor.

Recently the pinlock shows signs of having a gap between it and the visor when fitted to the clear visor - the soft bead doesn't contact all round despite jiggling it about to get best fit. This means that some fogging is happening between the visor and the pinlock - which kinda defeats the purpose of the pinlock, dunnit?

Maybe this is wear and tear. Maybe the visor has warped a little or maybe summat else altogether...

Anyone else had this problem? What didja do about it?

    Ta.

Maybe I am just lazy, but I woulda bought a second pinlock for the second visor.

That would have eliminated this issue.

As it is I would say wear and tear of being removed and replaced might have caused your problem.

But I guess you knew that already

Arent the pins on an offset centre point so you can just turn them around to tighten/untighten the gap?

Hey slofox - I've got a couple of spare arai visors (at least one with a pinblock fitted). They are from an arai viper helmet I worte off a few months ago. I replaced it with a Arai RX7, which uses a different visor, so these visors ares just lying around not being used.

If you want them just let me know, PM me your address and I'll send them to you.

One visor is clear and one is dark smoke (smoke one is bit scratched though but would be good for a track day).

    Might help solve your problem.

Ultimately that's the best thing to do but other than that i'd leave the insert on the clear visor for the night riding when fogging more likely.

The pinlock came with the visor and I didn't bother to find out a lot about it. Didn't use it for several months - thought it obscured the vision until I discovered it had a protective film over it...durrrrr

Fanny, your idea would prolly work since the problem is only with one of the visors - the older of the two. We shall see.

In the meantime, I will get a second insert so I don't have to swap back and forth - another good idea I thought. The nice young lady that sells them has offered to have a jiggle around with the current one to see what the story is. I bet she does what you have suggested.

Thanks Fanny, you are a gem!

Aunt Fanny is a genius. I have had mine go slack too but just have to tweak the little cam pins. This involves removing the visor from the helmet but no probs. Pinlocks are the shit
