Removing glue from tank

Just ordered a new tank protector and side grips for my speedie. When I remove the old one I think I'll probably be left with a glue residue, how do I remove this safely without damaging paintwork? Will acetone be too harsh and damage my paint work?

Alternatively, a bit of heat (like a hair drier) and some talcum powder does a perfect job. Heat up the glue a little then rub lots of talcum powder over it (don't be shy with the talc).

what ever you use try rubbing it somewhere where if it does any damage it wont be seen...

Just so you're aware John, the S3 has very durable paint and you'll be fairly safe with a variety of products. Hell, I've successfully removed superglue from a side-panel, poured DOT4 brake fluid on the flyscreen without harm, cause I like testing that sort of shit.

Hey man - what colour / year? Where are the pics?

If a gloss finish - just use a little meths. I did that on my brand new blazing orange speedy (to remove the 2 stickers on top of the tank) and no problems at all.
