Question on head rebuild 99 c600 timing

    hi
i have currently put my hornet back together( i hope)
and when i turned it over it was making quite a few noises :halt
the timing marks line up pretty close to how they should be
but is running bad and making scary engine noises,
so i stopped before doing any more damage

could the timing be out by one complete turn?

as when i put the cams back in place the chain slipped of the crank and i had to remove the bottom guide to put the chain back on them
    re fitted the guide
and in doing so , i
moved the bottom crank out of alignment
so i had to turn it completely around to align it again.
do you think if i took a cam off and rotated the crank 360 degrees again,
    and
put it all back togeather would this fix my problem????

the timing lines up every 720 degrees

    thanks in advance

Get the workshop manual for this or the CBR, it outlines it. Once you've read up on it, it'll all be a lot more sorted in your head, it's actually quite logical.

after some more workshop manuel reading i believe i may be one tooth out on alignment
    haynes quote
note that is is easy to be slightly out (by one tooth on a sprocket) without the marks appealing drastically out of alignment

also possible the timing is 180 out, robbie suggested take plug out of #1, remove plate to check timing marks, check piston position. this will tell you if its 1 tooth or one rotation/180 out.
