Packed her bags and went home (to the village) you idiot. FFS she couldn't stay there all night...

How you read she came home to nz is beyond me. Sure a quick perusal of an article, but surely if you gonna take the time to post on nz's finest forum you'd have made sure you'd read it right.

    THATS ALL

EDIT: On a totally different subject, be very careful when posting from an iPhone the word NZ directly followed by is, as it will auto correct to NAZIS leaving your post looking decidedly un-savoury DAMHIK

In which case, I could be a competitor, but the music would have to be thrash metal or something so my unco flailing would match (or you couldn't tell it didn't).
Sounds like you'd be a dead cert for the solo judo.

Synchronised swimming is not a sport and should not be in the (any) games.

In fact any competition that is judged should not be considered a sport. e.g. gymnastics, surfing etc

A sport must be won by being first or faster or stronger etc. Should not be open to interpretation.

    In my opinion.

The Commonwealth games concept is well past its used by date.

So you don't believe the following Commonwealth Games events are actually sports?

Hockey, Rugby, Netball, Wrestling, Boxing etc

All of the above are interpreted by referees and/or judges.

Lets not get too serious, but rugby and netball should not be at the games. No team sports should be. Same as the Olympics. Should be athletics and swimming only.

And ladies gymnastics for obvious reasons.

I dont think its all done and dusted. These New Delhi games are just an example of a really bad show or entertainment.

Kiwi's got bugger all precoverage or marketing except dirty accomodation stories constantly run prior etc in the media, almost none of our athletes were introduced to NZers through interview or article.

Our $ driven media fucked up by not finding fiscal reasons or sponsors to run these stories or highlight our sporting hero's.

Same as the Indian authorities for failing to put bums on seats.

Major fail TVNZ or maybe the commonwealth games committee are the root problem.

BTW where the fuck did they find the staff who are covering 'this event'
Churches are monuments to self importance

That's different. There the referees and/or judges are just making sure the rules are followed correctly. It's still about who (or which team) is better at doing the thing that they are meant to do: punch harder, pass a ball without dropping it, ...

Even in a sprint, you need judges to see if someone jumped the mark. In the longer races the judges make sure people stay in their lanes. In the swimming the judges make sure the strokes are, um, stroked correctly. And so on.

That's quite different to the kind of subjective point scoring judging that he was talking about.

(Though I'm a little on the fence about the boxing...)

Quite correctly, the Olympic and also the Commonwealth name these gatherings "games".

To quote Hemmingway “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely games".

Sadly, the sponsors have been heard and games like rugby, golf, tennis and basketball have been included.

    What pzpkfw said.
The refs in Rugby don't decide how many points a try is worth based on style or how many tackles were broken now do they?

No. But they constantly have to make subjective decisions such as whether a try has been scored, and whether the run of play constitutes playing advantage.

Yeah, I saw them rolling around on the floor afterwards as well

Oh well, next time it's Glasgow. I wonder how the games will go being held somewhere where they don't speak English ?
