Bethune admits sinking of Ady Gil was PR stunt.

Just on the news now, he has quit the Sea Shepard and denounced them, and admitted that the ramming of the AG was a PR stunt, ordered by Paul Watson.

I suppose that clears up any misunderstanding about that now.

It says here the 'scuttling' was intentional, nothing about the ramming. But they way it was presented on the news made it look like the whole thing was planned.

I read about this earlier this afternoon on Kiwi Blog.

I'm quite impressed that Bethune has put himself on the line to do this. The SSCS come across as a bunch of lunatics.

That simply isn't true. Heaps of people on here told us that the Japanese went and rammed him on purpose. I can't believe they're all idiots who couldn't figure out obvious the truth from the video

Indeed he is. Either he's prepared to lie to all and sundry while carrying out these acts, or he's prepared to spread lies about SS.

On its way to the bottom, I wonder if the boat* hit any whales?

Not the ramming, as you point out below.

News != truth. Having read Pete's statement I see no evidence he is suggesting that the ramming was a stunt, just that he was told to scuttle the boat and went along with that.

But then, it looks like Either(Pete or Paul Watson) != truth, much.

A disappointing and sorry affair. No heroes in this story.

Isn't there ways of raising awareness without lying to their supporters, sponsors and the public? And without sinking a vessel in the seas delicate ecosystem?

Ok, so if the truth doesn't work it's ok to bullshit? It's not the nature of the protest (violence) or whether it was law abiding, they lied to try to sell an image.
