Talking I'll Be Incommunicado For 3 Weeks

3 more sleeps to go, and then I'm into Hospital on Monday afternoon for surgery.

While this will be fairly major surgery, it's something that I've really been looking forward to for the last couple of months, especially since the date was finalised.

So I've got 2.5 days of work (lucky me, working the weekend ) and then just over 3 weeks off - I'll be back on the 24th of December.

So I'll see some of you lot at Mitch's for the 2nd KB BBQ, and if you feel the need for my contact phone number, please PM me before 3pm Sunday.

I can't send you a postcard from anywhere when I don't know your postal address, Si.

Well you only need to ask BTW what flowers or offensive gift would be appropriate to annoy you during your recovery? Ah but then I'd need your address to send it to you LMAO

Just thought I'd pop in to say that I'm still alive and healing rapidly and in great spirits.

The operation was quick, with no new endometriosis to be found anywhere, which was a shock. I went in about 6pm, had my last self-administered shot of morphine at 1am (no dreams though - I thought morphine was meant to be, like, psychedelic man), eating breakfast at 7am, and out of bed at 7:30am, much to the amazement of my specialist and the nurses. In fact, I think he didn't ever find me in my room when he came to visit and that was morning & afternoon every day until I left on Thursday at 10am.

I managed to make it to our work Christmas "Do" on Saturday night & had a fabulous time, despite missing several "Nanna Naps" as I'd become used to, and I didn't start to droop until about 11:30pm. I went light on the rum and cokes though, figuring that if coughing, sneezing and laughing hurt like a barsteward, then being sick probably wasn't a good idea either!

I made it into "real" clothes today (ie something without an elastic waistband) and also effected my escape, making a run to Raglan for a coffee in the c@r.

And tomorrow morning I have my 17 staples (!!!!) removed, so it's only onwards & upwards from here.

And still 2 weeks off w*rk to enjoy.

Good to hear you are better Slim.

Interesting to hear they are still doing such an invasive operation on endo still.

My wife has suffered from endo for the last 16 years and has an op approx every 9-12 months. They make a tiny cut in her belly button and blow her up with carbon dioxide so they can cut it out.

She doesn't have any pain from the operation but she complains a lot about the carbon dioxide working its way through her shoulders for a few days after.

Still, good that you are okay. Best of luck with the recuperation. See you on the road sometime.
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.
