I used to write them. The mere act of putting something in writing I found was good for analysing your day’s racing, and also after a weekend at the track all I could think about was bikes, bikes, bikes!
I don’t now ‘cos I’ve kinda gotten lazy, but I still like to read everyone else’s. Like the others say, it tells a much deeper story than simply placings, lap times, etc.
...
well very good then, thanks for taking the time to write them and for enlightening me.
Cheers

.... back in green and feeling great ....
Cause I've already bored the shit out of my family, friends (the few remaining ones I have) and my workmates. Might as well spread it around on the net too !
+ I like the sound of my own voice (keyboard)

They are also enjoyable to read for those who were wanting to get to the meeting but couldn't due to other circumstances which prevented them of being there.
Its also a great chance for those Riders out there who have written a Race Report and who have questions about there Race to be answered by those who were either Racing againgst them or someone who was watching as a spectator.
Where else do you get the opportunity to talk about yourself and have people actually reading what you wrote?.
I have tried to write a report on my pathetic attempts at racing buckets, but get sidetracked by other things.
When I first started riding (dirt), I'd write reports - twofold/threefold reason. One, to get things straight in my head about my day. Two, to share with others who may ride or be thinking about getting into it. Three, as a sort of diary.
Every now & then I've come across one of those reports and once I've looked at who the original poster was, start remembering the day or start laughing at me. (I guess it ended up being a fourfold reason lol).
I still enjoy reading well-written reports (not with lots of mistakes, text language and all the other crap that is often posted). It is good for sponsors to see how you're going as well (if you've got any).
It was reading race reports on here that got me into trying racing for myself. Now its been so long since I raced I forgotten how to write one.Still keep an eye on the race forum after each round of whichever series to see how everyone else is doing tho.
and I can understand scratcha's writing more than his speaking.
Keep 'em coming.![]()
For myself, I just enjoy writing down my own perception of the day and my experiences. A lot of KBers very actively encouraged me to start racing and even though they couldn't always be on site to spectate and assist, they want to know what was happening. KB was the best medium to convey that. I found, as Phil has already pointed out, it was beneficial to analyse the days performance and identify improvement areas.
Now that I'm not racing, the Race Reports are my favourite forum on here by far as it's a way of keeping up to date with how various people are going and see what differences everyone has in their reasons for even being there.

It's great having the reports as it means I don't have to go and watch the racing.
I wasn't able to race over the winter as the bike was in bits.
It was nice to read the Vic Series reports and AMCC round 1, to find it RAINED at ALL of them.
I didn't feel so bad after that.![]()
