Umm... It has a hole cut in the bottom to allow for the bulge in the Harris exhaust. I guess making the hole into a bulge would be a smart thing to do while the bikes on the stand ?

Wharfy me dear dear mate. As usual your report has the ups and downs of a Ron Jeremy diary entry and tragedy of Shakespearian proportions. Keep it up mate. I will be needing 3 levels of California Superbike to catch you by the time I get racing again.

    what happend...

It appears the culprit in the demise of the 675 motor was the heat exchanger.
This handy device has the oil on one side and the water on the other and serves two purposes. One to warm the oil to operational temperature quickly at start-up and to keep it from getting to hot during normal running. The heat exchanger failed allowing the oil to enter the cooling system, almost instantly pressurizing it above the cooling systems capacity, blowing the top off the coolant header tank and spraying the oil contaminated water all over the place.
The good news is no other damage seems to have been caused.

That sounds significantly cheaper than pulling the head off

The head had to come off anyway - a race head gasket is being fitted. A race cam chain and manual tensioner also - The original cam chain was quite stretched and the automatic tensioner was at full reach !!

I have just filed a Greymouth race report

The bike has not done many Km's 4000 as a road bike and 40 hours as a race bike.

Very interesting that There has been quite a few comments made about the auto tensioner (675.net) but not about the cam chain.

Good to hear you have it sorted
