Arrow exhaust for SV650

I have a 2002 SV650 with a standard exhaust. There is currently an Arrow exhaust (muffler) for sale on TradeMe. The model is 71065AL, which I believe is aluminium. There are no fittings supplied with the exhaust. Can anyone tell me what fittings are needed to fit this exhaust to my bike, and where I could get them? I can't find an Arrow dealer in NZ. I presume I need a clamp to secure the muffler to the exhaust mount on the bike. Do I also need a clamp for the front joint, or is it just a snug fit?

My alternative is a Scorpion. Any opinions on the quality of Arrow vs Scorpion? Alumimium vs stainless steel? Which is the louder? I want the bike to sound nice, but I don't want to upset the neighbours too much!

Any help much appreciated.

Neptune in Wellington do a pice pipe for the SV650, the ones I saw were very well made and sounded great. All fittings included. On that model I am sure you need to cut the stock mid-pipe and I think Neptue supply or can supply a joiner for refitting the stock muffler (if you sell the bike and put stock back on for example).

Other option is to import a Delkevic pipe from Ebay or similar - they are very well priced and reports on quality etc are very good. Popular on the SV forums and plently of Hornet 900's runing them in the USA.

Another import option is Blueflame - again nice pipes and good pricing with current exchange.

I spent ages choosing what after-market can to stick on my SV. Eventually went for the Two Brothers. I thought they gave the best sound. AND it stayed legal as well.

My scorpion (without the baffle) is fekkin loud - if you do go this route get the baffle.

As far as I'm aware, stock SV650s have welded exhausts. So you'll need something to cut with and something to weld with for a beginning.

Correct. I had to hacksaw the old one off mine. Just try not to hack into the catalytic converter like I very nearly did...


Didn't have to weld though The Two Bros came with a split connector and sealant to put the new one on with. Seemed to work just fine.

Thanks for the replies. I've decided to order a low-mount Scorpion thorugh the local dealer. Will take longer to get it, but at least I know it will fit right on. The pipe has already been cut by a previous owner, and the original muffler refitted with a sleeve.
