    Bike insurance?

This has most likely been covered. But I was flamed at work because I ride without insurance. I've been doing it for years without any problems, so am better off without it. Sure I've had close calls but generally I would say I'm a careful and responsible driver.

I did a Protecta quote online and its $50 a month for full and $36 for third-party. And that is without mods totalling over $1500 or the likes. You see, I've done so much to my bike, I'm under 25 and it's a late model sports bike.

Like sure I understand how people say you shouldn't own a vehicle if you can't pay for it. But I can, BUT I'd rather continue driving safe like I do and spending that money on other things. Is that sensible or selfish?

Many people get away with not having insurance. The only thing I will say to you is think about the consequences of collecting a late model vehicle (car) and it being deemed your fault. You will pay, and if you cant you may as well go and spend $45 at the courthouse and bankrupt yourself.

Personal responsibility and all that. Good luck!

Sensible if you can pay for any damage you are responsible for. Not sensible if you can't. Seems logical to me.

    I'd love $50 a month. Mine is around $130.

    Swann Insurance

Did you try Swann Insurance? They also cover Track/Ride Days with no extra excess on your claim (should you have the misfortune of crashing) and your gear (helmet, pants, jacket, gloves etc) all govered too.
Worth ringing around but you'll find that most of them IF they cover track days they'll have double/triple excess. I found Swann to be the best for me.

Will buddy, as painful as it may seem; you should look at insurance as part of the cost of ownership.

Without insurance, you're virtually playing Russian Roulette!

Seriously looking into it now. I think kiwibike seems to be the cheapest. I might just get 3rd party, fire and theft. I'm pretty good at the maintenance and servicing side of things.

I think the fact that I have never had insurance, is what makes me so careful on the road. Cos I know what the consequences are. And thats why I've never had an accident. But there's always a first for everyone

Kiwibike is defintely the best, only them and swann would even insure me at all. I'm 18 and own a 1000 and i'm only paying 50 a month for full.

No matter how careful you are you can still get hit very easily.

Kiwibike is not an insurer. They are a broker, using the likes of Swann, Star etc... Just in case you're wondering

yes, and its their job to find you the best deal that suits your needs, and you deal with them if you have any claims
ie they do all the chasing around/paper work if you have a misadventure.

Re SWANN Insurance, I had a bike written off and was fully insured by them.
Took the arseholes 7 months to cough up the cash.

No one else was involved in the crash, slipped on oil and flipped the bike, so shouldn't have taken that long to resolve.

    Wankers.

Well after a hit & run disqualified driver took me out on Monday I was very glad I had insurance.

Accident monday - bike assessed and written off by State Ins Wednesday, $$$ less the excess in my bank Friday.

Just need the police to give me offender details and State should refund me the excess.
