After having Saturn cable I wouldn't even consider moving to where ADSL was the only option.

here in singapore i get a mobile phone with free TV streaming,12gb of data(and the phone was free,a Samsung Galaxy S)also Cable TV in the home with god knows how many channels, including a Mysky type box we can record progs on,and a home telephone and internet.Oh,and the internet is Capless.and fast. And everywhere, theres superb coverage here. The cost?less than $100 a month for the lot.
Sadly,New Zealanders are being ass raped by those greedy telcos, and theyre getting away with it.

avoiding the 'nz internet sucks debate' (especially because there should be no debate - it sucks, we get ripped, someone seems to be making shitloads)
to the OP, no I wouldn't move to a place with no broadband, the current place we are in is a RD area, we still get broadband, slow even by NZ standards, but broadband, I can stream youtube, downloads aren't too slow. But we wouldn't rent here if there was no broadband.
We skype our overseas rellies (with video), we don't have tv so if there are any shows we want to catch it is online, there are many sites that stream live sports so I can get my fix of those, sure it is small and the quality is not great but I am ok with that.
I don't give a rats arse about mobile phones or coverage, but do like my interdweeb.
We changed mobile providers because we couldn't get coverage where we lived.
Now speaking as an ex-valuer, having no fixed line broadband access is a matter of choice not value. It affects peoples decisions NOT to rent a property and it would affect businesses owners to MAYBE not purchase a property. Very few people would not buy a house because of broadband access (or lack of).
Put it this way, what value would you put on broadband access? The cost difference between fixed and mobile and set plans? Over what period of time? Generally NZers stay in their homes for 7 years so do you push it out that far? Technology would say that in several years everyone should have access to "reasonable, affordable" broadband access. So a 7 years cost assessment is inaccurate.
So basically to put a value on a single service that isn't a necessity would be unrealistic. It's one of the buyers/renters many choices to selecting a property.
..."this one I like the view, but doesn't have broadband. This one looks over a dodgy old ladies place but has awesome broadband."

Could Broadband availability affect the price of your house or your rent?
This is the sort of question that invites all the criticism that those living there get.![]()
