198kg full of fuel and fluids, so why is their 2011 Ninja 400R 203kg?

Because they did not spend an additional $20k on titanium bits?

The tests done on the S1000RR are so widely varied you don't know what to believe.

I really hope this new 10R is making that kind of grunt though, it will give Hoonduh/zuki and yammy a kick in the pink bits.
ahh, but the others are perhaps smarter. Consider the target markets here, ZX10r is pretty popular with the marine cephalopods. Giving them 200hp to play with is likely going to reduce their market size. While the rest continue to sell heaps of bikes, and BMW continues to kick ass with fancy elecity bits

How eloquent! You are saying of course, Kwaka owners are wet behind the ears? Or are actually of the molluscan class? Cephalapods have been around for, what, 450 million years? I imagine they were buddies with the hill billies.

im sure its got oodles but...

    Kawa NZ page shows the 2011 ZX10R 188ps ($26495)
the 2010 model claimed 200ps... so the new ones got less power than the old one

...but the abs model got 209.9ps

    ...further to that
Some of the local Kawa dealers have decided not to get the non abs versions, wondering who would buy them, being down on HP from last year.
Turns out that they may have been some American spec units.
Shops are waiting for the full power ABS versions.

Maybe some good deals on the low power units later?

2011 NINJA ZX-10R ON TECHNICAL HOLD

    IRVINE, Calif. (Dec. 11, 2010)

Kawasaki Motors Corp., U.S.A. is placing a technical hold on the 2011 Ninja® ZXTM-10R sportbike. The company is proactively addressing a remedy which reflects Kawasaki's commitment to excellence and its relationships with its highly valued customers and dealer network.

The following actions are being initiated through the Kawasaki dealer network:

Unsold units will be returned to KMC warehouses. The units will be redistributed once Kawasaki is 100 percent confident they reflect company standards for this
    highly technical, race-bred machine.

Those who have taken delivery of a unit will be instructed to return the unit to the dealership for a full refund and will be among the first to have the option of receiving a new unit once the technical hold has been lifted.

The fact that it's such a total recall/refund and details are non-existant would indicate that it's a potentially catasrophic fault that could seriously harm Kawasaki's reputation and image.

Must be some details somewhere for Christs sake.

Yeh me to Mr Trash, love to know what they cocked up! Very embarrassing for them even if we never find out!
Being a Kawasaki man I was hoping this bike would elevate them to a higher level in the racing arena and we'd have another serious competitor up the sharp end after many years out of the top 6.
A full refund that's more than a glitch in the software even a major engine fault could be fixed at the dealers?
My wild guess is the frames started cracking somewhere and the bikes need re manufacturing??

EDIT: oooppps wrong this guys been told Engine problem http://www.zx-10r.net/forum/showthread.php?t=96728
